"We chose RuggedCom technology for our substations because it is specifically designed
for the substation environment and has been tested to the same standards as protective
relaying devices. Substation automation and peer-to-peer protective relaying both figure
strongly in our plans, and therefore substation-hardened equipment is more than
a nice-to-have — it's a must!"

Ruggedcom switches were selected for use in the USAF Shemya Power Plant.
Shemya Island is located at the end of the Aleutian Chain approximately 300 miles
off the coast of Siberia.
The redundant switches connect multiple protective relays to the control room
where on line data from the relays is used to operate the power plant. The power plant
provides prime power to extensive National Missile Defense Authority facilities
on the island.
All electronics provided to the USAF were disassembled, quality inspected
and burned in at the Chief Engineers office in Anchorage.
Reliability was not an option.

"We chose RuggedCom product for its ability to work in harsh plant type environments as well
as its performance and adaptability for use of standard IEEE 802 protocols They were simple
to configure and operated well with office grade Cisco switches. In RuggedCom we also found
a company with excellent pre-sales and technical support".

We deployed RuggedCom's RuggedServer™ RS400 throughout the Madison, Wisconsin
highway system to provide video feeds, and real-time traffic monitoring in strategic
locations. The RS400 combines both a managed Ethernet switch and a serial-device-server
in a single, compact, industrial device. We're very pleased with how this all-in-one product
has made it cost effective and incredibly easy for us to connect our serial devices
directly to the Ethernet traffic control network.
