Ranking of Product Characteristics
Survey participants were asked to rank specific product attributes by order of importance. The two clear leaders in importance
are EMI and Security.
EMI |
EMI immunity was identified as the most important product characteristics. Given the nature of the substation environment and the many EMI phenomena that can occur, this is not a surprising finding. RuggedCom products are designed specifically for substation environments and as such, passes the industry’s most complete set of EMI tests including IEEE 1613 Class 2 and IEC 61850-3. RuggedCom has also recently obtained independent 3rd party certification of our product’s EMI characteristics.

Security |
Also, not surprisingly, given the new NERC CIP cyber security regulatory compliance legislation, security is also a key product characteristic being looked for by end users.
