FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

RuggedCom Inc. Announces The Issuance Of A U.S. Patent Relating To
Its Environmentally Hardened Ethernet Technology

RuggedCom Inc., Woodbridge, Ontario, Canada, May 12, 2008 –

RuggedCom Inc. (“RuggedCom”) (TSX:RCM), a leading provider of rugged communications networking solutions designed for
mission-critical applications in harsh environments, announces that it has been granted a patent by the U.S. Patent and Trademarks
Office issued in April, 2008 under U.S. Patent No. 7,352,593. The patent relates to the innovative method of anchoring and securing
printed circuit boards (PCBs) within an assembly, which increases a device’s tolerance to vibration that may be present in a harsh environment. Excessive vibration is a main cause of failures in devices that are not specifically designed to operate in such environments. The design covered by this patent is used within many of RuggedCom’s Ethernet switches, network routers and serial device
server products.

“Vibration is a common occurrence in many harsh environments, such as those found in industrial processes, military, and mobile applications”, explains Roger Moore, Vice President of Engineering for RuggedCom. “Immunity to vibration, and other types of ‘extreme’ environmental conditions, is essential for mission-critical applications and all our products are designed from the ground-up to take these conditions into account.”

Increased tolerance to vibration is an important component within RuggedCom’s internal RuggedRated™ certification program. The RuggedRated™ specification establishes a set of criteria that networking and communications devices must meet in order to ensure reliable operation within harsh environments. RuggedRated™ products: meet or exceed a wide range of industry standards; provide
high levels of immunity to electromagnetic interference (EMI) and heavy electrical surges; feature a wide operating temperature range
of -40°C to +85°C (no fans); provide high tolerance to vibration and shock; and have high mean time between-failure (MTBF) and
reliability characteristics.
